Themed Thursday - Oh Happy Day!

Hi everyone!  Tara C. here to share another Themed Thursday project with you.

I am going to need lots of birthday and wedding/shower cards this year and I have been itching to use this adorable stamp set 'Happy Day' from Paper Wings Productions.  I was torn on which card to start first and then had the brilliant idea to use the same stamp set and create cards for both occasions! Keep the same size card and just change up the colors and embellishments slightly for a totally new card.

So, I started with the birthday card in the striking color combo of red, black and white with a bit of silver thrown in for sparkle.  I stamped, then cut the sweet banner and assembled it on red ribbon.  

I painted some chipboard stars and then stamped directly on them using the flower bouquets from this stamp set also seen at the bottom of the card.  Too cute! A bit of ribbon and some gems are the finishing touches.

I then cleaned all of the stamps and switched the color scheme to pinks and created this darling wedding/shower card.  It was so easy to create the same look with the banner and background papers as I already knew the sizes to cut and how to assemble it together!  

I changed up the ribbon and the embellishments just a little bit but kept the layout exactly the same. 

What a difference a change of color can make! I will definitely be using this set again and I will  just set up an assembly line and keep creating the same card in different colors for birthdays, graduations, weddings, new jobs.......

Faux Stitching

Hello Everyone! It's Amber here with a Tutorial Tuesday  post. Today is my Birthday so I thought I would share a Birthday Card and Tag. For this weeks tutorial I'm sharing a quick and simple faux  stitching technique. I'm using the technique to create a banner today.

See those black lines I used for my banner...its faux stitching. Not everyone has the time or the patience to hand stitch or machine stitch so this is an easy way to add stitching to any project.  All you need is an ink pad and a sewing pattern tracing wheel. These come in most sewing kits and can be found at any craft store in the sewing notions aisles. Below you will see the four steps I used to create my Birthday card.

Step 1. Grab an ink pad and repeatedly roll the tracing wheel over the ink pad until the wheel is fully covered.

Step 2. Roll it onto the card front or cardstock you are going to use. I repeated this 3 times.

Step 3.Stamp you sentiment onto your card front below the banner line and then on a scrap piece of cardstock stamp your banner triangles.

Step 4. Color, add glitter, cut, and add your banner triangles to your banner line.

It really is as easy as that. There are many things you can do with this faux stitching technique like make stitching lines over your patterned paper or cardstock, make lined and grid backgrounds, and make hearts or other shapes with the wheel.  I hope you enjoyed my tutorial today and Thanks for visiting!. Feature Friday - Love Makes the Go Round

Happy Friday My Sweet Bloggie Friends!!  Norma here to wrap up this wonderfully creative week!



This week we've showcased the versatility of the beautiful Earth and Sky Cling stamp set.  Tara kicked things off for us on Monday with this beautiful little gift tag that is sure to make it's recipient feel special:

and I've used the Earth and Sky Cling stamp set to create this interesting tag:

To create this tag, I started out by stamping the earth and clouds with my Metallic Pearl Dabber.  Next I sprayed the tag with Dylusions London Blue and Vibrant Turquoise.  The acrylic dabber resists the ink and stands out nicely against the beautiful Dylusions inks.

While my ink was still damp, I applied some Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress ink making sure to blend the color into the blues for aged look.

Next I stamped the earth and colored it in with Tim Holtz Distress Markers.  I also inked all of the edges with Vintage Photo.  I stamped my sentiment on a scrap of muslin fraying and inking the edges to keep with the worn look I was going for.

For interest I layered in scraps of muslin, cardboard and tape backing (all were scraps on my desk).


To soften things up a bit I mixed in some glass beaded trim, a Prima flower and Tim Holtz heart charm.



There you have it, one stamp set, three very different ways to use it.   So whatever your style, you're sure to create something beautiful with this unique stamp set.

What's Up Wednesday - Earth + Sky Stamp Set

Hi!  Dana here today sharing a layout featuring the Earth & Sky Stamp Set for What's Up Wednesday. Before I share my layout, let's take a look at this fabulous set of stamps.

I love the mix of different fonts and images! The stamps in this set coordinate beautifully.  I used about half of them for my page that was inspired by the sunrise as reflected in my side view mirror.

I framed my photos with the gorgeous sun and the bottom half of the earth stamps. I thought these two complemented each other well as both have rays of light in the design. 

I inked the top portion of the quote "I've got sunshine on a cloudy day," to make a title strip for my page.

I love to add clouds to my projects and this set has two clouds that are a great size.  I stamped several clouds onto a piece of muslin, cut them out, and placed them around my page as a way to add some interesting texture.

The quote stamp "So may the sunrise bring hope where it was once forgotten," was perfect for the theme of my layout. I added some favorite song lyrics to my journaling spots to enforce the positive feel of this page from the song "Feeling Good," which read "Birds flying high you know how I feel. Sun in the sky you know how I feel. It's a new dawn. It's a new day for me, and I'm feeling good."

Because I love birds as much as I love clouds, I added a flying bird from the Bird Melange Stamp Set to the top of my page.

Mixed Media Monday - Sun and Stars

Hi All!  Tara C. here with another Mixed Media Monday post.  I love mixed media - it means  I get to pull out paint and sprays and do a lot more of the 'messy' stuff that I don't do normally on my cards.  For today's project I incorporated all of the above into a cool and masculine birthday tag!

I started with a kraft tag cut with my Cricut and then started in with the fun stuff.  I first sprayed the right hand side of the tag with Tattered Angel Glimmer Mist in Creme de Chocolat for a bit of dimension and then added some fun stamps in acrylic paints.  The focal point is the blazing sun image at the top and bottom of the tag from the  'Earth and Sky' cling set and then I added my favorite polka dots, some sets of lines and triple stamped happy birthday.

I added a gift card holder on the front along with a sweet but not too mushy sentiment.  Painted, glittered and sprayed stars along with a few metal studs accent the rest of the tag.  Fun to make, more fun to give!

One of my favorite mixed media projects is to stamp on ribbon.  This is ivory twill that has been stamped with the double dot border in Staz-On ink.  Love it! You can use other dye inks, like Memento, for a softer, fuzzier look.  Staz-On or other solvent inks go on darker and more permanently.
