Feature Friday: Be Wise Be Kind Be True

Hello everyone it's Amber here for another Feature Friday Post! Yeah it's Friday, are you ready for the weekend? I know I am. Today I will be featuring the wonderful Owl Be Wise Panel Clear Stamp Set. This stamp set is very versatile and can be used for everyday moments or many different special occasions. Check it out.

For my card I started with a white piece of cardstock randomly scribbled my colored pencils all over the  cardstock. I then took a wet paint brush and went over the scribbled lines for a watercolor effect. After the cardstock was dry I stamped the image and sentiment using a blank ink pad over the water colored area. Next I matted the white cardstock with a light purple cardstock and machine stitched around all four sides.

I really love how the water coloring turned out, it gives the card a very whimsical vibe. What's Up Wednesday - Spring!

Hi everyone!  Tara C. here for another edition of What's Up Wednesday!  So what's up? Well, for one Spring is ...supposed to be.  As I write this, we are having ANOTHER snowstorm here in Colorado and really no sign of Spring.  But, I know it's coming and in the meantime, I thought I would share a few Spring decor items I made to get into the mood.

I recently got the 'Flower Power' stamp set from Paper Wings Productions and instantly loved it and have been using using it like crazy!  So many gorgeous flowers in this set and pairing them with bright colors makes them perfect for a sweet wreath and Easter basket.

First, I cut a chipboard circle 3 and 3/4 inches in diameter and about 3/4 inches wide and covered it in white card stock.  All of the flowers were also stamped on the white card stock and I used some small flower dies to cut them out.  They fit pretty nicely and much easier than all that fussy cutting! I then layered and glued all of the flowers to the circle and added a few gems, some sparkly glitter and a bright bow.

The adorable basket is cut with a Papertrey Ink die from white card stock and stamped in the same bright, springy colors. I added scalloped borders, more glitter and gems and some liquid pearls.  I did fussy cut some of the tiny flowers to add in as accents on the basket and the tag.  The cheery sentiment is from the 'Earth & Sky' stamp set.  These would be perfect for place settings at Easter dinner filled with all kinds of sugary goodies!

Mixed Media Monday - Projects from the March Mixed Media Kit

Happy Monday Peeps-

Carrie here, today I want to share some projects I made with the March Mixed Media Kit.  

First, I made a fairly simple art journal page.  I use the Creative Journal from Ranger for my art journal.  I absolutely love this book.  It has taken LOTS of abuse, and takes all forms of media.  I get it super wet with sprays and heat set it over and over again.  I can't say enough good things about it.  

I started off misting the page some pale sage green spray (sorry I don't remember the name brand) and sprinkling on some walnut ink crystal over the wet spray.  I misted the entire spread with water and let the crystals dissolve.  I opened and closed the book several times to encourage the ink to spread and run together.  

Once the ink was dry, I adhered the resin paper and an image from the clip art sheet that are included in the kit.  I knew right away I wanted to use this sweet image on my page.   

I really love the translucent quality of the resin paper.  You can see the text from the back of the page through the paper.  Next, I trimmed down the chipboard piece from Blue Fern that is in the kit and inked it with the Picket Fence Distress Stain (also included in the kit).  I lightly sprayed the chipboard with a gold iridescent spray.  Once it was dry I adhered it to the page.

I used the Lines Border stamp set from the kit to make a border around the entire spread.   

I picked a quote and stamped out the words with the Upper and Lower Casehttp://stores.paper-wings-productions.com/-strse-178/Funky-Lower-Case-Clear/Detail.bok Funky Alphabet sets with a dark brown ink pad.  Finally, I traced around parts of the letters with a white gel pen.  

The next project I made with the kits is a mini album using the book covers, ribbon, clip art, chipboard, and book pages from the kit.  

I used a Crop-a-Dile tool to punch a hole through the covers and inside pages.  The ribbon was cut in half length wise and used to tie the cover and pages together.

I stamped the music notes in a dark brown ink onto the chipboard.  I used a shell button on the flower part of the chipboard.

I cut out some random words from the book pages in the kit.  My fingers were really messing from playing in my art journal all day, so the works accidentally got some blue ink on them when I was gluing them on the picture.  I also added a little bit of one of the sparkly Stickles to the wand.

My project is a simple stamped tag featuring our Owl Panel, Build a Shrine, and Circle Frame stamp sets. I inked the background of a shipping tag with a variety of inks and sprays.

 Then I stamped the images with a black VersaFine ink pad and lightly colored the images with colored pencils.

Themed Thursday - Paris Clear Stamp Set

Happy Thursday to you all! Dana here today sharing a pair of artist trading cards that I created with the Paris Clear Stamp Set. If you're looking for some fun French-themed stamps that have a lot of great detail, this set is for you!

I started with a piece of watercolor paper. I stamped the images onto my paper using VersaFine ink, to capture all the fine details of the stamps. Next, I embossed the images with clear embossing powder by carefully stamping over the images again with VersaMark ink, sprinkling with clear embossing powder, and setting with heat. The clear embossing powder protected the stamped images while I added layers of color to the paper and also kept a small area around the image white, which helps the images pop from the background.

I added the script text to this card with the Background Writings Cling Stamp Set. I wanted a faint impression, so after inking the stamp, I pressed it onto another piece of paper to remove some of the ink before I stamped onto my card. I finished this card with a sentiment from the Paris Clear Stamp Set and a brad.

I added the script text to this card with the second stamp from the Background Writings Cling Stamp Set, using the same method as above for a faint impression. I used the decorative border stamp, also from the Paris Clear Stamp Set, along the bottom of this card. I finished this card with a sentiment from the Paris Clear Stamp Set, a flower and some ribbon.

Tutorial Tuesday - Quilted Effect!

Hi everyone!  Tara C. here with a tutorial for your Tuesday!  I have made a few cards with a quilted or grid effect and I always get a lot of questions on how I do it.  Today I will be showing you how easy and simple this technique is.

The supplies you will need for this technique:

-card stock -80 to 110 lb. works the best

-score board and tool (mine is a Martha   Stewart)

-additional items such as stamps, ink and embellishments.

Step 1

Place your card stock at an angle on the score board.  I like to keep a right angle at the top (red triangle) and to keep my card stock at about the same measurements on each side (red arrows).

Step 2

Score the card stock at even intervals.

I have scored here at every 1/2 inch.

Make sure you press firmly to achieve a good indentation.

Step 3

Then turn the card stock 90 degrees and line it up as before at an angle keeping the right angle at the top.

Score again at 1/2 intervals.

This is the pattern you will end up with.  

You can also score wider or more narrow lines depending on your design.

Now for the fun part!  You can choose to stamp or use the side with the indentations you just scored.

Here I have turned the card stock over and inked up the pushed out lines to really show the effect.


I then stamped right on top of them.

This is my preferred way of showing the quilted technique.

 

Or you can let the lines shine all on their own and use them as the background of your design!  Here the lines were scored at 1 inch intervals.
