Mixed Media Monday: Before & After

Happy, happy Monday peeps!

It's Shay here.  Today I have a tiny cute little project for you.  On a shelf in my studio I keep some items for altering.  I went to that shelf and found a little package of 6 magnets I bought several years ago at Target for $1.00.

They were not bad looking, but I wanted to customize them with paper wings productions stamps, patterned paper and some punches and dies:

1. Punch out doily from patterned paper.  Adhere to front of magnet.

    2. Cut out circles from scrap of watercolor paper (I used a die and my Cuttlebug), but you could punch it out, cut it out with an electronic die cutting machine or hand cut it for a fun look.  Stamp part of postcard image from Writing Backgrounds with grey ink.

    3. Stamp small flower from Flower Power in black ink.  Color in flower.  Color in background.
    4. Adhere circle to magnet.  Finish off with black jewel to each center of flower. (Note: Because I could see the color of the original magnet behind the doily punch and it was distracting, I filled in the holes with a pearl pen.)

I kept the design on all the magnets the same, but you could easily make each magnet different.  I think this would make a great quick little gift for someone perhaps as a thank you, party favors or teacher gift.  Add a magnet board with it and it would be a great birthday, hostess or housewarming gift or as a gift for a college student, child, coworker or friend.  You can go to Target or a dollar store to store up on magnets for such projects.

We would love to see your before & after projects!   Add them to our flickr group, to Pinterest, comment with a link on this post or even email pictures to us!

Hope you have a great week,
    Shay.
