What's Up Wednesday: Color of the Year Cards

Good Morning! Katie here from Punk Projects! Every year Pantone chooses a "Color of the Year". Last year was Emerald, the year before that was Tangerine, and the color for 2014 is Radiant Orchid.
Today I'm sharing a couple of cards I made that were inspired by the color of the year. I think my cards ended up a bit more of a pink toned "radiant orchid", but I like the overall look of them.

I used the polaroid frame from the Snapshot Framer set to stamp frame onto cardstock, which I cut out and backed with fun patterned papers from Basic Grey. I never have enough Thank You cards so I stamped the word "Gratitude" onto the frame using The List List stamp set. The frames made easy little embellishments.

These cards worked up really quick. After I finished my framed embellishments, I smeared a bit of Bubble Gum gelato onto my card base, and cut out a banner from patterned paper then attached my frames. To finish embellishing my cards, I added enamel dots and gold color shine for extra sparkle.

Do you like the new Color of the Year? I think I do, I definitely enjoyed making these cards inspired by it.

For more inspiration, check out the other DT member posts from this past week. I think my most favorite (although I love them all.) project has been Dana's Mixed Media Bracelet.
Norma made a cute layout using the January Nesting Components Kit.
Erica's Valentines themed tags are so pretty!
Amber showed a fun new technique for Wet Stamping.
and Irit made a beautiful Mixed Media piece.
