cocoa warms the heart

Hi everyone! Ashley here today sharing a cup of warm cocoa! 

I made this card using the Play with your Coffee and Frothy Concoctions stamp sets. 

The first thing I did was run my background through my Grand Calibur. I chose this layered heart embossing folder because I knew my sentiment would be 'cocoa warms the heart' from the Frothy Concoctions stamp set and I wanted a play on words. Next I watercolored the background with distress inks.

I stamped my coffee cup from the Play with Your Coffe stamp set onto patterned paper and fussy cut it. I stamped some marshmallows on white cardstock and fussy cut those before adding them to my cup with foam adhesive.

Then I used foam adhesive to place my cup of cocoa on my embossed heart background.

Themed Thursday-Say It-Thanks

Hello Paperwings fans!  Erica here with you today with 3 cards featuring the new stamp set that was released in September Say It-Thanks!

I fell in love with this stamp as soon as I saw it and I knew I had to have it!  It was the perfect stamp to go along with the 6x6 paper pad that is included in the September mixed media kit!

The three cards I created included some kind of embossing. To start I ran my cardstock through my big shot to emboss the bottom half of my card with a wood grain embossing folder.  For the top I added the "thank you" sentiment and the beautiful floral accent and heat embossed in white!  I then tied a bow with this fabulous ribbon also included in the September kit.

 My next card uses 2 papers from the My Mind's Eye paper pad that is included in the September kit.  I die cut them with a tag die cut and added a sentiment and another floral accent to one of the cards.  I head embossed the sentiment in white and the accent in gold to create this pretty thank you card.

My last card also uses more paper from the My Mind's Eye paper pad and this fun sentiment from the Say It-Thanks stamp set.  I love the fun font with this sentiment and I think it can be used in so many ways!

Spotlight Sunday: Easy made Art deco

Hello my dear crafty friends!

Irit here today with my very first post made for the PWP blog and this time I want to show you  a few easy and fast techniques with embossing powders.

This is my Art Deco art piece made with PWP cut out image from Summer clip art sheet.

And the first technique used here is a Crackled Glass technique.

It's not a real tutorial, but a some samples of the technique, so here it is in just a few words:

Cover your cut out image with a thick layer of Clear embossing ink and add Ultra Thick (UTEE) embossing powder over it. Heat emboss it and cool it. Add another layer of clear embossing  ink and another layer of clear embossing powder. Third time is even better, so make it once more. Now put this glass look piece into your freezer section and wait for like 15 minutes. Take it off and break the " glass" with your fingers. Add some brown ink over it. You central piece is all done.

Now to the frame made with Faux Cloisonne technique

Hand cut a chipboard frame  that fit the central image. Cover it with clear embossing ink and thick Black embossing powder. Make it  3-4 times and please, keep your fingers out of the hot surface!  Add a random mix of 2-3 Perfect Pearls over the heat embossed surface and heat it again.

Now grab a stamp from your PWP collection: I used a strip from Build a Shrine set as the size was just perfect for the frame size. Heat each frame part and stamp with your stamp into the hot surface. Let it cool and then make the same procedure with 3 more frame parts. Glue the frame over the image with 3D foam glue.

And now for the outer frame made with dry embossing and heat embossing all together.
 Dry emboss the thick gold foil with an embossing folder (I used Cuttelbug Art Deco folder). Cover the embossed parts with a bit of clear embossing ink and this time heat emboss with Ultra fine black powder. Let it fry and add some Perfect pearls over the frame.  Glue the smaller frame over the larger one .

Now you can alter a flower. I used Prima fabric flower with some Gold embossing powder and a bit of the same Perfect pearls and the flower  was shrinked by the heat to the right for this project size (was a huge one before heating). Glue the flower over the frame and your art piece is done.
