Mixed Media Monday - Grinch Home Decor

Grinch Stamped Mixed Media Canvas by Dana Tatar for Paper Wings Productions

Hi Paper Wings fans! Dana here today sharing a home décor piece that I created with some of my favorite color mediums and Paper Wings Productions stamps. How The Grinch Stole Christmas is one of my favorite holiday stories and I had a lot of fun creating this project!

I covered a piece of heavy-weight cardboard with gesso and torn pieces of sheet music. I then added color with Gelatos, random stamping with several shades of archival ink and white rub-ons.

I found a fantastic image of a hand holding an ornament printed on a brown paper bag from Trader Joe's that served as a great focal point for this piece. I cut the image from the bag, covered it with a layer of gesso, and then added color using Gelatos and oil pastels.

I finished the project with a double-loop bow and a quote.

Mixed Media Monday - Burlap Canvas

Hello crafters!

This is Zoey and I am super happy to be with you for this month as Guest Designer!!
For those who do not know me, I am a mixed media artist that lives in a small town near Bologna (Italy) who thinks she is a dinosaurus in disguise. (LOL)

For my project today I will use products from the For the Birds Nesting Components Mixed Media Kit . The kit comes with a Clear Stamp of choice and I choose the Bird Panel Clear Stamp Set.
For the complete list of materials I used, make sure to check the list at the bottom of the post.

I covered my burlap canvas with some gesso and some pages from an old book, then I added some color with the Gelatos- Steam Punk.

After that, I grabbed the 12x12 stencil that is included in the Kit and I traced one of the birds and to do that I used a black watercolored pencil.

In the kit, there were also included some flower - sadly they didn't match my project so I decided to use again the Gelatos- Steam Punk and color it so it would match my whole project!

For the sentiment I just stamped that beautiful quote on the Bird Panel Clear Stamp Set over a white cardstock (that I lightly colored with...again...Gelatos- Steam Punk) and then cut it in pieces to create some movement. This is the project I made -- what do you think?
I really like the outcome and do you see that girl in the image? No it is not me, although I wish I had such a cool photo with a bird, but it is an image I cut out from the sheet of Clip art included in the kit.
I love Clip Arts and you if you didn't already you should check out the entire shop section for that!

Here is a detail , I love to use the stencil with a watercolor pencil especially with this one , the bird also seems like is sitting on the group of flowers!

I just can't get over how much I love that cute clip art!

...and here is the whole panel from the two sides perspective

I hope you will find this creation I did as inspiration - I had so much fun playing with the For the Birds Nesting Components Mixed Media - if you want to see more from this kit you can check out Dana's post right here where she created a really awesome scrapbooking layout or the one by Carrie here! As you can see, this kit is really versatile!

Do not forget that our September challange is still going on, the theme is "use twine or ribbon".

That is all for now, stay happy stay creative!
Till next time, xoxo!

Mixed Media Monday - Domino Matching Game

Hi Paper Wings fans! Dana here today sharing a fun set of altered dominoes. My girls have about a week of Summer left before they go back to school and I made them a matching game to help fight their boredom. New games always help keep them occupied for at least an hour or two so this project was a win-win!

I used the Vintage Domino and Nouveau Domino Cling Stamp Sets on Tando Creative Chipbaord Dominoes. After applying a light coat of gesso to both sides of the dominoes, I stamped the pretty ladies and gorgeous baroque design onto the dominoes with archival ink.

I then colored the images with Gelatos. I finished the edges of the dominoes with a black paint marker and then added a coat of glaze to both sides to seal and protect the images.

Thanks for stopping by today! There is still time to enter our August Anything Goes Challenge for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to Nani Ke Ola Scrapbooking. We have been sharing the work of several talented Guest Designers this month. If you haven't seen Kristie's, Ashley's, Monica's and Marie's posts you are going to want to check them out!

Mixed Media Monday- Tea time

Hi guys, Katie here! I used the Tea Time Nesting Components Kit and the Tea Time stamps to create this art journal page spread for today's Mixed Media Monday post!

I used gelli prints for the backgrounds, going around the edges with gesso and then mint gelatos. I love that lace border stamp in the tea time stamp set, so I added that to the inside of the gesso/gelato border.

I also made a packing tape transparency using on of the tea clip art images that came in the kit. I covered it with clear tape, soaked it in water for a minute and then lightly rubbed off the paper so that it is transparent. I love how you can see the gelli print background through the teacups!

The design team has been doing some amazing projects using the Tea Time Nesting Components Kit. Norma created this gorgeous layout, and Amber made some beautiful mixed media cards.

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope I've inspired you to do a little mixed media, or maybe a tea themed project!

Mixed Media Monday - Encaustic Wax Panel

Hi Paper Wings fans! Dana here today sharing a 6x6 encaustic wax panel for this Mixed Media Monday. I'm just beginning my adventures with encaustic wax, which is painting with hot wax. After playing, I definitely want to pick up some more colors of wax, so I'll be back next month with a more in-depth tutorial. Until then, I hope you enjoy this piece that I created!

This gorgeous bird is part of the NEW Bird Beauty Cling Stamp Set. (You can pick up this fantastic stamp set for 15% off this month!) I stamped the bird, and circles (Single Dot Border Clear Stamp Set) onto a piece of white tissue paper using black archival ink and then sealed them to my panel between layers of hot wax.

I embellished a small twig with ribbon from a past kit and a glittery flower and then finished this piece with a rub-on.

Thanks for stopping by today! We love to see what you have created with the Paper Wings Productions products so please tag us on Facebook or Instagram and you can always up load your projects to our Flickr gallery. Have a wonderful day and remember to let your creativity take flight!
