Wearable Art: Stamped Tchotchke Pin

Artsy To The Bone Tchotchke Pin by Dana Tatar for Paper Wings Productions

Hi! Dana Tatar here today sharing a fun piece of wearable art. I've been working on adding patches and studs to my battle jacket. I'm really loving this form of expression with colorful patches and pins from my favorite bands and artists. I wanted to add some handmade flair to the jacket, for a bit more originality, so I created this one-of-a-kind tchotchke pin.

I pulled the Meurtos Clear Stamp Set from my Paper Wings stash. I think rock-and-roll and skulls go pretty well together! I stamped one of the skeletons and the words 'artsy to the bone' onto a piece of white cardstock using black archival ink.

Next, I cut the stamped images from the paper to fit into round pendant trays. I used a piece of floral print patterned paper as the base for the stamped text.

I attached the stamped papers to the pendant trays with Diamond Glaze. (Any liquid glaze will work for this step!) Once dry, I applied a small amount of glaze over the image in each pendant and pressed a glass cabochon over the top to seal and magnify the designs.

I added both pendants and some more charms to a 5-loop pin. I'm seriously ready to rock!

This pin is great for wearing and also giving! There is an amazing selection of stamps in the Paper Wings Productions Store that are small enough to fit onto jewelry bases and pins. If you used PWP products to create a piece of wearable art, or any art, we'd love to see it! Share your creations with us on the Paper Wings Productions Facebook Page, in the Paper Wings Productions Facebook Share Group, or leave a link to your work here in the comments section.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Thank You Kindly - Scrapbook Saturday

Hi everybody, Norma here with you today! Today I have a cute layout to share with you that I created using the beautiful Tea Time Nesting Components kit, Writing Cling StampBuild A Shrine and Southern Sayings stamp sets.

I started out by layering strips of various papers from the 6x6 Marion Smith paper pad included in the kit.  I also fussy cut some of the images from the paper like the clock and roses you see here.  Next I stamped some of the flourishes from the stamp set included in the kit and the Writing stamp.

I wanted to use this image from the clip art sheet but it just need a little more so I added the ATC frame from UmWow Studio.  I altered the frame by applying a couple of layers of gesso and then embossing with a stamp from the Build A Shrine set.  Then I spayed it with Lindy's spray ink and distressed the edges.

I love the way the frame turned out!  Okay so next I added some more fussy cut images from the paper pad and some Domino washi tape.

I used black tulle along the left edge.  I created a small bunch for the rose to sit on and added the super cute Marion Smith Tea Time Charms.  Aren't those little utensils the cutest?!

I  love how whimiscal the Tea Time Nesting Components kit is, don't you?!

Alright, for the finishing touch I added "thank you kindly" from the Southern Sayings stamp set.   And on that note I'd like to take a moment to thank all of you for your friendship and support over the last two years.  Today is my last post as an official PWP Design Team member.  I have been extremely blessed to be a part of this wonderful Paper Wings family and I am very grateful for the oppourtunities it has given me.  I will definitely miss being a part of this talented group but I felt it was time to give someone else a chance to share their talents with you.  I will still be around supporting my friends and who knows, maybe I'll get to pop in from time to time ;D.  Yah never know!!

Believe in Magic - Fairy Tag

Happy Monday everyone, Norma here with you today!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  Did you see the gorgeous NEW Nesting Components kit released yesterday?!  If you love birds then this kit is for you, take a look:

Isn't that beautiful AND it includes one of my very favorite supplies, molding paste.  You also get your choice of the bird panel stamp sets.  BUT WAIT, there is MORE!!   The NEW June stamp and Stamp of the Month have been released.  Here is the link to find out more:  BIRDS.

Okay so now for my project :D Today I have a fun mixed media tag to share you, let's get started.

I began with one of my favorite stamps, the beautiful Fringe Lace stamp.  I achieve this look by stamping and then using a mask over the first stamped image.

Next is another favorite: molding paste.  I love adding texture with molding paste!  Here I'm using it with a stencil.

For subtle color I opted for several shades of Lindy's inks and Distress ink.

I'm using an image from the summer clipart sheet and I added chipboard butterfly wings.

I cut the butterfly in half and then embossed them to add shimmer.

Next I added a handmade flower.  To make a flower like this, punch a circle for the base then wrap trim starting at an edge working your way to the center.  I used white trim and dyed it Lindy's inks.

The sentiment is from the beautiful Dragonfly Fairy stamp set.

Here's a closer look at the gorgeous Fringe Lace.

Thanks so much for joining me today, have a beautiful day!!
