Burned Cork Gift Card Tins

Hi! Dana Tatar here today sharing a fun way to alter metal tins. As both the sports season and school year come to a close, I find myself giving a lot of gift cards to the teachers and coaches that have helped my daughters over the year. Instead of tucking the gift cards into an envelope, I decided to upcycle some metal tins. I used some of my favorite Paper Wings Productions stamp sets and a wood burning tool to embellish pieces of cork. I love using my wood burning tool on soft materials like cork and leather.

Here's what my metal tins looked like before I started this project. The bottom half of the tins are a solid color, so I chose to leave that portion of the tin untouched and focus my efforts on covering the top of the tin.

Metal can be tricky to cover with paint, so instead I applied a strip of fabric tape around edge of the lid.

Next, I cut pieces of cork to size and stamped designs onto them using archival ink.

Once I was happy with the designs, I used a wood burning tool to trace over the stamped images.

Finally, I simply used hot glue to attached the burned cork pieces to the top of the metal tins. I love the look of burned cork. I plan to wrap a piece of colorful ribbon around each tin before I give them away. Markers work great on cork, and would be a great way to add color to the burned designs.

Twinkle Twinkle

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today and I've created a quick and easy card for you today.

 

This card uses the Hanging Stars clear stamp set.  There are 15 stamps in this set, enough to create a variety of cards.

Keeping it simple, I stamped a selection of stars across the card and the phrase in the lower corner.  Ribbon was added for some dimension.

Next time you need a quick card, pick up this set and start stamping.

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today and I'm happy to be working with these lovely stamps  from Paper Wings Productions.

 

I've inked blue cardstock with a stars art screen.  Next I used the Hanging Stars Clear Stamp Set, stamping it on white cardstock.  After fussy cutting around the stamp, I matted it with blue cardstock before adding it to the background which I also fussy cut along the top edge.

 

Brads were under under the stamped image and Wish Big was added in the corner.  This panel was then added to the card with foam adhesives for dimension.

 

There are so many options for this stamp set.  I just love it.

Stamped Angel Tags

Hello PWP fans and Happy Wednesday! It's Amber here today to bring you two stamped tags I created with lots of fabulous stamp sets from the Paper Wings Productions Shop! Check out the close up photos below along with all of the details.

The first tag I have to share is the pink and black angel themed tag, I started by stamping the larger angel from the Angles Cling Stamp Set right in the middle of my tag at the bottom. After I had the angle stamped I used an old sticker sheet to add some stenciling to the tag base. After my stenciling was done I went back and stamped the text and the swirls to the background. I only added a little bit of the text and I kept the swirls toward the outside edges. 

Here's a closer look at the stamped angel with the stamped and stenciled background. I colored in the squares with Faber-Castell Stamper's Big Brush Pink Madder Pen to bring out some of the pink in the patterned paper. For the sentiment I went with one of the stickers from 7 Dots Studios Illumination collection that reads " lets dance in the rain" and attached it with some mini staples.

I wanted to continue the pink and black color scheme, so I used the same patterned paper and ink pad that I used for the first tag. I started by stamping the angel at the top right off to the side and then I added the star right below her hand. After I had those two images stamped I went ahead and added the clouds and text to the background. 

Here's a closer look at the stamped text, star, and clouds. I thought it would be fun to have the angel reaching out for the star. I was going for a reach for the stars kind of vibe to go along with my 7 Dots Studio "Dream be yourself take a chance" sentiment. I hope you enjoyed my two stamped tags today!  Thanks for visiting!

Scrapbook Saturday

Hey everyone, Katie here today for Scrapbook Saturday! Do you remember the mixed media graduation card I made last week? If not, you can find it here. Well, I also made a mini album to match it and gave it as a gift to my Sister (who was graduating). I used photos I took for her graduation photoshoot.

For the background of all the pages, I started my coloring them each with gold gelato, and then I used the lovely stars from the Hanging Stars stamp set to stamp stars randomly around the pages. When I think of stars, I think of celebrating, so they definitely worked great for the grad photos!

On a few of the pages I also added a few inspiring quotes between the stamped stars, as well as some Queen & Co bling.

Mixed Media Monday- Graduation Card

Hi guys, Katie here! This past weekend was my Sister's graduation, so I whipped up this fun, mixed media card to give her! I used the Celebrate stamp, which was perfect for a graduation card, don't you think? Scroll down to see a peek at my process.

I started by painting a bit of gesso onto my card base and stamping the Sunburst stamp into the gesso, this is a favorite technique of mine! Once the gesso was dry, I smeared gold gelato over it, sprayed that with a little water and rubbed it in. I also poured some Heidi Swapp gold color shine on top, which is why there are 2 shades of gold.

I wanted to stamp the large stars from the Hanging Stars stamp set in gold, but I didn't have any gold ink so I colored the stamp with a Gold PITT Pen and stamped it onto paper. After that, I spread glue over the stars and sprinkled glitter over top.

To add a bit more embellishment, I added on some Queen & Co bling in yet a 3rd shade of gold. My sister loves gold, so I'm sure she will like this card!

Goodness Gracious Boy!

Hi everyone, Norma here with you today!  

You know I'm not a real big scrapbooker but I always look forward to doing Scrapbook Saturday.  I have so many pics that I would like to scrapbook.  I think that scrapbooking is such a great way to tell the stories behind photos that might other wise be forgotten.  It's also a fun way to get creative with papers, stamps and paints.  The overall layout not only tells the story of the subject but of the scrapbooker.

I was going through my photos and I came across these great pics of my youngest getting into all sorts of things.  Combined they tell of the story of my sweet and silly boy.

I wanted to create a fun feeling to match my silly boy so I combined several stamps sets.  I used circles from Sacred Geometry (must have set), Hanging Stars, Art Textures, Southern Sayings, A Perfect Alphabet and A Banner Day (40% off this month).

I stamped some of the circles from Sacred Geometry in paint and others in Colorbox ink.  To stamp with paint I added paint to my palette paper then smeared it using a brayer.  Then I just rolled the brayer over my stamp.  If you use paint with your stamps be sure to clean them real good afterwards.  I stamped all of the stars on the Hanging Stars set then outlines some with a white Signo pen (another must have).  The banner and most of "I Love You" are from the A Banner Day set.  I used A Perfect Alphabet for the "I" and "Love You" from A Banner Day.

I used patterned paper and a fabric brad from the Creative Girl Nesting Components kit.  I cut the circles using a punch and scalloped Spellbinders die.  My sentiment "Goodness gracious" is from Southern Sayings.  I just added "boy!" using the A Perfect Alphabet (another great set to have).

To finish off my layout I added a little journaling and a cute quote from my paper stash.  Super easy layout but I think I was able to captured my son's sweet adventurous spirit.  Well friends that's all for today, thank you so much for joining me and enjoy your weekend.  Hugs to you all!!

Mixed Media Monday- Lucky Stars Art Journal

Happy Saint Patrick's Day everyone! Katie here for today's Mixed Media Monday post!

For today's project, I'm documenting how lucky I am and since it is Saint Patty's Day, I decided to use pretty much all green on my art journal page.

I didn't make this a tutorial, but I wanted to show you my process for creating this page. I started by sticking down an adhesive piece of canvas to my page and sketching out my design. I glued on a piece of book paper onto my face to add interest and also glued on gelli printed circles.

After I drew/colored in my face I placed a mask over her and stamped the background using the fun stars from the Hanging Stars stamps set. I love that there are different sizes of stars in that set, as well as different styles.

After stamping the stars, I colored the page with green Mister Huey spray and went around the gelli circles using acrylic silk paint.

Have you been think that the shape of the speech bubble looks a little familiar?  It could be because it's actually the tree leaves from the Build A Scene stamp set. I stamped it with white gesso and it looks like a speech bubble to me!
