Feature Friday: Featuring Vintage Clip Art Sheets

Hi Cathi here for Feature Friday!! I want to feature the Clip Art Sheets for this post, but have also used 8 different stamp sets as well!!! I took the gorgeous Prima Delight 6x6 papers from the November Nesting Components Kit. to use for my backgrounds and built up the details of my background using numerous stamps from Paper Wings Productions.

The first card features an image from the Winged Things Clip Art Sheet.  For my sentiment I used a great stamp from the Stars Cling Stamp Set. For the background I used postmark and script stamps from the Text Melange Cling Stamp Set, then took my gelatos and used the Art Textures Cling Stamp Set and stamped some gorgeous polka dot texture with a real watercolor effect that you get when you stamp with them. I finished off the card with some Prima Bark Stars, lovely flowers, some May Arts burlap ribbon and some cheesecloth.

For my second card I took the beautiful image from the Spring Flowers Clip Art Sheet. Again, I took my gelatos and used the Art Textures Cling Stamp Set. I added a clock from the Worldly Women Melange 2 Cling Mounted Stamp Set repeatedly on the background. I then used the A Banner Day Clear Stamp Set to make the sentiment. I finished the card off with a few flowers and a doily.

I had a lot of fun with this last card. The vintage image comes from the Summer Clip Art Sheet. Again I used the Art Textures Cling Stamp Set with my gelatos, using the blue with the polka dot texture to make it look like more bubbles! The sentiment is from the Kind Words Cling Stamp Set. I used the starfish and shell stamps from the Sea Melange Cling Stamp Set in the background to add to the design. Finally on the vintage image I took the stamp and postmark from the postcard stamp in the Writing Backgrounds Cling Stamp Set to make the image look like an old postcard. I really love how that looks!! I love blue and brown together and I think it suits a beach theme perfectly. I added some gorgeous teal and brown flowers, some shells and some cheesecloth.

Thanks for visiting today and don't forget we would love to see what you make with Paper Wings Productions Stamps so add your projects to our Flickr Group, to Pinterest, or leave a comment with a link to your project. Themed Thursday: Mother and Child ATCs

Hi, Cathi here to share with you my first DT post for Paper Wings Productions sneaking in a little early for July!! I decided to use a theme of Mother and Child for this Themed Thursday post. I used gorgeous stamps from the same stamp set, Worldly Women Melange 2 cling stamp set to create two canvas ATCs.

I started by inking the background of both canvas ATCs (received in the May Nesting Components kit that I purchased earlier) with Spiced Marmelade and Peeled Paint distress inks. I then stamped the images of the Native American mother and child and the Madonna and child from the Worldly Women set in black Archival Ink. For a more weathered background look, I took a script stamp from the Text Melange Cling Stamp set and Walnut Stain Distress Ink and stamped all over the ATCs. I used gorgeous chipboard Dusty Attic ATC frames I had and embossed them with Lindy's Stamp Gang Orbit Green Gold Embossing Powder, it really gives them the look of metal!!

I finished off the ATCs by using jewels from the May Nesting Components kit and gorgeous Pink Paislee Luxe metallic rubons on the Native American mother and child ATC from the July Nesting Component kit.

What's Up Wednesday: Golden Christmas

Hello peeps!

It's Shay here.  I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Before I get onto today's post I wanted to draw your attention to Julie's series of Advent Calendar tags: Part 1, Part 2, & Part 3.  They are each unique and delightful.

Now that December is nearing it is a perfect time to get those Christmas and holiday cards done.

I think gold is perfect for the holidays so I pulled out my gold embossing powder, some older Paper Wings Productions stamps along with newer stamps to create a couple Christmas cards.  I really love how I was able to incorporate the older non-Christmas themed stamps with newer Christmas themed stamps to create very Christmasy cards.

For the first card I wanted to use the Madonna and baby Jesus image from Melange Women 2-Worldly Women set.  After gold embossing the Madonna, I adhered the white cardstock panel to the white cardbase which I adhered a piece of decorative gold tissue paper and wrapped around with twine.  I added a few gold embossed stars from Hanging Stars for added interest around the the Madonna and on the cardbase.   The sentiment is from Christmas Mix It Up which I gold embossed yet again and cut into banner shapes.

The inspiration for this card was the three Magi who are sometimes portrayed as kings.  There are great crown images found in the Royal Melange or Crowns sets.  I chose to use the two larger crowns.  On red cardstock I stamped in red the postcard image (such an awesome background) from Writing Backgrounds or Postcard.  I then embossed each crown with a different embossing powder: silver, gold and copper. The sentiment is the same as the first card from Christmas Mix It Up which I stamped inside the banner from Banner Day--all gold embossed.  The words fit rather well and because they are clear you can bend them slightly to fit the curve of the banner.  I adhered this panel to a gold panel.  The card base is red which I stamped in red using the big bold flourish from Flourish Fun 1 and the trio of dots from Flourish Fun 2.  All of the red layers are distressed using the red ink and my ink blending tool.

I hope you ink up some Paper Wings Productions stamps and create festive holiday cards.  We would love to see what you make with Paper Wings Productions stamps.  Add your projects to our flickr group, to Pinterest, comment with a link on this post or even email pictures to us!

Take flight,
Shay.

What's Up Wednesday: Character Creations

What's up peeps?

It's Shay here.  Have you seen the amazing projects here on the blog lately:  Robin's awesome bird bookNorma's stunning tag; or Julie's fabulous video?  If not, go check them out and be inspired!

Today I bring you a funny little project I did recently for a monthly ATC Trade (by the way, ATC stands for Artist Trading Card) I participate in at Stamp Antonio.  The theme was build-a-person/paper dolls so I decided to merge a couple paper wings productions stamps together to create a new character.

I wanted to see what Louise would look like as a geisha.  I found the geisha trio stamp in Melange Women 2 that I thought would work well as Louise's new body.

  1. Stamp Louise with black ink. Color in Louise's head in with Copic markers and cut her head out.  Edge head with black pen.
  2. Stamp geisha trio from Melange Women 2 in black ink on white cardstock.  Color in center geisha's hand, fan, feet and neck.  Stamp geisha in black ink on patterned paper and cut out center geisha's kimono.  Stamp geisha trio again in black ink on white cardstock.  Color in hand in front of kimono and cut out.
  3. Attach kimono and hand to center geisha on geisha trio with colored in fan, neck and feet.  Cut out trio.  Attach Louise's head over center geisha's head.  Color in background with Copic markers.  Edge geishas with black ink using sponge or ink applicator tool.
  4. Stamp sun with yellow, orange and red inks from Earth & Sky.  Cut out and adhere under the heads of the geishas.
  5. Create an ATC sized background (2.5 inches x 3.5 inches) for your geishas.  I used patterned paper, washi tape, part of a sticky note and some iridescent mist spray.  Edge with black ink.  I also punched the top left corner with a corner punch and adhered a black and cream polka dot patterned paper behind that corner.
  6. Adhere geishas to background using dimensional adhesive.  Because the card still needed something, I added some little strips of the patterned paper I used on the kimono on the bottom left on the background and a wood veneer arrow pointing to Louise geisha girl.

Another look at the Louise geisha girl ATC:

Maybe this will give you ideas on how to make your own silly and fun characters using different stamps together.  Even if you decide to add some wings (from Wings or Mini Wings) to one of the Melange Women, Frida Por Vida, Louise, Sophie, Luc or Marcel you can come up with some whimsical additions to your cards, tags, art journal pages or any other project you are working on.

We would love to see your character creations.  Add them to our flickr group, to Pinterest, comment with a link on this post or even email pictures to us!

Have a wonderful Wednesday,
Shay.
