Stamped Canvas Heart Valentines

Hi friends! Dana Tatar here today sharing a quick Valentine tutorial. I used two craft materials that I love, canvas and mist, with Paper Wings Productions stamps to create this set of Valentines. I started this project with store-bought stitched canvas hearts, so all I needed to do to personalize these shapes was add color, stamp, and embellish.

Step 1: Prime the canvas hearts with a light spritzing of water. Wet canvas will readily absorb color. Next, spray the hearts with mist. I used several shades of red, orange, pink, and purple Tattered Angels mist. While the hearts were still wet, I stacked them and applied pressure to transfer colors from one heart to another. The results are similar to a tie dye effect with interesting spots of color.

Step 2: Stamp sentiments onto the canvas hearts with a permanent, waterproof ink. I used stamps from the Valentine Wishes Cling Stamp Set.

Step 3: Embellish! I finished my Valentines with some simple stitched buttons.

Hi everyone! Ashley here sharing a Valentine's day card that I made using the Wild Card cartridge with my Cricut.

I used three different stamps sets from Paper Wings Productions that you initially may not consider for a Valentine's day project. The stamp sets I chose are Say It Winter Greetings, Fall Mix It Up, and Text Melange.

I used the Crate Paper Hello, Love patterned papers which are perfect for this project. For the front of the card, I used one of the script stamps inked with a light grey. Because I wanted it to be very subtle, I stamped on a scrap paper first, did not re-ink the stamp, and then stamped a second time on my card. You can see a side by side comparison below:

The Fall Mix It Up stamp set had the 'happy' and 'together' stamps that I used for the front of the card. For the inside of the card, I used 'love' from Say It Winter Greetings and 'you' from Fall Mix It Up stamp set. Mixing words and phrases in your stamp sets is a great way to get more use out of them!

The card fits perfectly in the corresponding envelope and I used the same ink color to stamp 'happy' and the heart stamp from the Say It Winter Greetings stamp set onto the envelope.

Happy Saturday everyone!!  Norma here with you today to share a little scrapbooking inspiration.  Stamps are a great way to make your layouts unique and custom.  I love using my stamps to create interesting backgrounds and patterned papers.

So for this layout I used the Creative Girl kit, the May Nesting Components kit, Vintage Melange stamp set, Milagros stamp set, Follow Your Heart stamp set and the You and Me stamp set.  I started out by piecing together the large heart.  I did this by drawing a heart on a scrap piece of paper,cut it out and then glued strips of the Creative Girl papers on top.

After that, I carefully stamped the border from the Vintage Melange stamp set around the heart.  I curved the stamp to fit all of the rounded edges.  I also added a little doodling, I just couldn't help myself, lol. I pulled out the May Nesting Components kit for the Pink Paislee Paper Goods.  I cut one of the pieces into the shape of a banner and stamped it with the heart included in the Milagros stamp set.

I stamped "love" from the Follow Your Heart stamp set for the backdrop of my photo.  To matte my pic, I used red tissue paper.  The sentiment from the You and Me stamp set is just perfect for my layout.

Feature Friday: An Old Fashioned Valentine

It's Shay here.  There has been some truly fabulous projects this week so I recommend first scrolling down to see them all before you return to this post.  I can wait.

Welcome back!  Are the design team talented or what?

Today I have some cuties for you.  What is better than miniature little Valentines?  Okay, winning the lottery to name one thing, but do you recall being a little lady or gent at school and giving and receiving Valentines?  I thought it was better than apple pie and I still love them so I thought why not make some with my awesome Paper Wings Productions stamps?

I created three of these little darlings...honestly I could have made dozens with the ideas swimming in my head. 

I used a nifty new die I bought that is a mini pocket to be the sleeve for my little Valentine cards.  The sleeve measures 2.5" x 3.8" while the cards are approximately 2 3/8" x 3 5/8".

Card No. 1:

This is the true romantic card set.  I inked up the Damask from Backgrounds or Damask using pink and red inks that I then spritzed with water and stamped upon the heart and the outside of the sleeve.  Under the heart is music from the Text Melange or Music in grey ink. I love these essential stamp sets...they work for nearly any theme and project.  I added the amor banner from Milagros which I stamped in red and colored in with Copic markers.  I added a heart and dots (remnants from the XOXO border on the sleeve).  I finished the card with some washi.  The sleeve is decorated with washi, XOXO, pink and white bakers twine and a heart.  The final touch is the little ticket/label from Tabs and Banners stamped with "for you" from Sophie.

Card No. 2:

Here's the sweet card set.  The card is stamped with the birdhouse from Home Tweet Home using VersaMark and embossed with white embossing powder.  Then I colored in the image using Distress Inks.  I chose some unusual and bright colors which I then softened by adding a layer of vellum.  I added another layer of vellum with a scallop heart die cut which I embossed with white embossing powder using a sweet sentiment from Home Tweet Home.  How adorable is this stamp set?  I adhered all the vellum with washi.

Here is a look at the house under the vellum heart:

The inside of the sleeve is decorated with the circles from Backgrounds or Circles and I also inked the edges.  The outside of the sleeve is stamped with the love birds from Home Tweet Home, tied with a white ribbon and finished with a heart.

Card No. 3:

The card for your inner princess or the little princess in your life.  Using Princess I stamped and colored her in with Copic markers.  I then masked her off and used a reverse mask of the scalloped heart to ink in the area behind her and stamp the castle from Prince.  The sentiment is also from Prince.  These are truly charming and lovely stamps and so perfect for children's Valentines.  I finished the card with pink glitter fabric tape.  The sleeve is also decorated with a reverse heart mask that I stamped the crown from Princess on.  Over that I stamped the sprig of flowers from Flower Power or Mini Flowers.  This is finished off with washi, fabric tape and a heart.

What fun these would be to make with your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, godchild or with the kids at heart in your life!  They would have so much fun making them and so proud to give them out too.  On the back of the cards is plenty of room for a little handwritten note.  Another alternative is to pack these little sweeties in a lunch for school or work.

The possibilities of which Paper Wings Productions stamps to use and how to use them are endless.  I thought Sophie, Louise, Marcel or Luc would be fun to use not to mention the Prince.  You could easily use Paris or London.  Vintage Technology or Play with Your Coffee would be fabulous too.  That is just off the top of my head! 

Another really cool thing about these little card and sleeve duo are that they are still small enough to fit in a Project Life 3x4 pocket which is a lovely thing for anyone doing Project Life.

What's Up Wednesday: Guy Friendly Valentine's

Speaking of love, today I have a bit of inspiration for putting a little masculine twist on those Valentine's cards for the special guy in your life.

With the Bird Lyrics stamp set (or Be Your Bird stamp and Home stamp) I made two cards:

Using similar colors and products making two cards is nearly as easy as making one.

Card No. 1

I began with the Be Your Bird image.  Using Versamark I embossed the bird using black embossing powder.  I colored in the image using Tim Holtz Distress Markers (tumbled glass, stormy sky, weathered wood, picket fence, scattered straw and fired brick).  These markers blend well together and I love the look they have when you color in an image.

I cut out the image and adhered it using dimensional adhesive to an embossed white panel that is decorated with a little diagonal striped washi.  I think washi is an excellent alternative for ribbon for masculine cards.

I also added a stamped heart from the Handmade stamp set which I cut out and outlined with a black pen to the bird.

Lastly, I adhered it all to a card base with a subtle Valentine theme and distressed the edges using my ink blending tool and black ink.

Card No. 2

For my next card I also used Distress Markers (tumbled glass, stormy sky and weathered wood), but this time I colored in the image directly on the stamp using the markers.  I lightly sprayed the image with water before I stamped it onto a piece of white cardstock.

Next I added a diagonal striped grey washi below and above the image.  To add to the Valentine's theme I added a small heart that I punched out of a coffee stained manila tag.  I then adhered the white panel to a kraft card base.

And there you have it--two simple, clean and guy-friendly Valentine's cards.
