She took a leap and built her wings on the way down

Hi friends! Ashley here today sharing a card I made with the Fairies stamp set. This little fairy is adorable and could be colored so many ways! I heat embossed her with gold and then used mostly pink Copics to color her. Then I fussy cut her and adhered her to my card base with foam adhesive.

My card base was made using the packaging technique and misting. I added some flicks of gold and pink shimmer mist too.

My sentiment is from the Brave Girls stamp set. I heat embossed it with the same fine gold detail embossing powder that I used my on fairy girl. Fairies seem like they need gold in their life - am I right?

you make life sweet

Hi! Ashley here today, sharing a card I made with the Hey Cupcake stamp set. I chose the little cupcake to stamp, heat emboss, and watercolor.

I like to use distress inks + my Tim Holtz watercolor brush to color my images. After I heat embossing the cupcakes with white fine detail embossing powder, I fussy cut them and did the same technique with the cupcake stand. I didn't want the whole cupcake stand - it was too large for my cupcakes! - so I fussy cut just the top part of the cupcake stand for my card. Always be on the look out for ways to make your stamps go further and work for your needs!

My sentiment is also from the Hey Cupcake stamp set, which I heat embossed with a coordinating pink embossing powder. I added a spot of watercoloring to my base using the same distress inks I used on the cupcake frosting. I think it helps to ground my sentiment.

Then I adhered the cupcake stand and my cupcakes with pop dots.

Thanks for looking!

grateful to you

Hello there! Ashley here today with a fun way to make a big impact with a small stamp.

I used the little leaf stamp from the Fall Mix it Up stamp set to make a background for my card. I stamped it multiple times and heat embossed it with white fine detail embossing powder. Then I water colored over the heat embossed images and they resist the watercolors. You could do this with any image or sentiment.

My sentiment for this card came from the same stamp set. I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

I added some twine and a wood veneer to complete the fall look. What do you think?

a sparkly tiara

Hi everyone! Ashley here today using the Sparkle and the With Some Sparkle stamp sets to show you a pretty card.
First I used the Sparkle stamp set and silver super fine detail embossing powder to make some sparkles on my background.

Then I stamped the sentiment from With Some Sparkle in white fine detail embossing powder. I think this font is so pretty. Next I stamped the tiara from the same stamp set and used Wow! embossing glitter in shocking pink. That's definitely a sparkly tiara!

the song from beginning to end

Hi everyone! It's Ashley here to share a card.

First, I stamped one of the musical images from the Text Melange stamp set all over my background with Versamark ink and heat embossed it. Then I grabbed one of the distressed stamps from the Art Textures stamp set. I inked it with Faber Castell big brush pens and spritzed it with water before stamping my images. Then I dried the stamped images with my heat gun because I'm impatient :)
Next I used distress inks to blend worn lipstick and spiced marmalade ink colors on a scrap sheet of white paper. I ran this through my die cut machine to die cut the medallion. For my sentiment, which came from the Kind Words cling stamp set, I stamped it on vellum with Staz On ink and then attached it with twine.
 Here's my finished card:

CAS friend card

Hi everyone! It's Ashley, back this month with a clean and simple card. I like the sentiments in the Kind Words stamp set so I wanted to make a card for a friend. Before I share it, did you know that many of the PWP stamp sets come in different sizes? This is helpful if you're on a tight budget (me!) or if you don't necessarily like all the stamps in the bigger stamp set. The Kind Words stamp set has a smaller version available - Friend cling stamp set.

For my card, I die cut the flowering branch and colored it with Wink of Stella so it's pretty and sparkley. Then I stamped my sentiment with Versamark ink and heat embossed it. This is a really simple style of card but the heat embossed sentiment + the Wink of Stella add a nice, pretty touch.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

thankful for you

Hello everyone! Ashley here with my first post as part of the new design team. I used the text melange stamp set along with the crown stamp set. I heat embossed stamped images from both of those stamp sets and then used distress ink blending for the base of my card.

I stamped a sentiment from Fall Mix It Up and then made a little banner which I adhered with foam dots. This may be a fall themed set, but it has a lot of great little sayings and sentiments for use all year around!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! You can view more details about my card on my blog.

Themed Thursday-Say It-Thanks

Hello Paperwings fans!  Erica here with you today with 3 cards featuring the new stamp set that was released in September Say It-Thanks!

I fell in love with this stamp as soon as I saw it and I knew I had to have it!  It was the perfect stamp to go along with the 6x6 paper pad that is included in the September mixed media kit!

The three cards I created included some kind of embossing. To start I ran my cardstock through my big shot to emboss the bottom half of my card with a wood grain embossing folder.  For the top I added the "thank you" sentiment and the beautiful floral accent and heat embossed in white!  I then tied a bow with this fabulous ribbon also included in the September kit.

My next card uses 2 papers from the My Mind's Eye paper pad that is included in the September kit.  I die cut them with a tag die cut and added a sentiment and another floral accent to one of the cards.  I head embossed the sentiment in white and the accent in gold to create this pretty thank you card.

My last card also uses more paper from the My Mind's Eye paper pad and this fun sentiment from the Say It-Thanks stamp set.  I love the fun font with this sentiment and I think it can be used in so many ways!

I hope you enjoyed my cards to day featuring the Say It-Thanks stamp set.  This is one stamp set you will not want to pass up!  We all need to thank you cards and this set will help you create an amazing assortment of cards!  Thanks so much for stopping and spending some time with me today.  For more inspiration using the September kit checkout Carmen's Mixed Media Monday post HERE.   Enjoy your day and remember to let your creativity take flight!

Tutorial Tuesday-Alcohol Inks

Hello Paper Wings Productions fans!  Erica here with you today to bring you a fun tutorial using alcohol inks.  Now I hit the jack pot about 2 years ago and found someone selling a huge lot of alcohol inks and accessories!  To be honest they have been sitting untouched for a very long time until last night!  I had so much fun getting my hands dirty and creating some fun backgrounds for my cards!  I can not wait to try some more techniques with these inks so stay tuned for more alcohol ink post from me!

Now lets get started shall we!  Here is a list of materials you will need.

  • various colored alcohol inks
  • glossy cardstock
  • alcohol blending solution
  • Ranger blending tool with a felt pad
  • paper trimmer
  • Paper Wings Productions stamps
  • craft mat
I started by trimming down my 8.5 x 11 glossy card stock to 5.5 and then again at 4.25.  This game me 4 pieces of glossy card stock to work with.

I pulled out a variety of alcohol inks to create two different color palettes.

I applied one to two drops of alcohol ink onto my felt pad and just an FYI a little bit goes a long way!

Next I took the blending tool and began to stamp it down onto my glossy cardstock making sure to cover up most of the cardstock but also leaving a little bit of white showing through.

Once my cardstock was covered I added a little bit of the Adirondack Alcohol Blending Solution to my felt blending tool and then again stamped it down onto my glossy cardstock to help the colors blend together.

The finished background looks amazing and I just love how the colors blend together!  This technique can be used on any non-porous surface and I hope you will give it a try!  Once my backgrounds were complete I trimmed them each down to 5.25 x 4.  I pulled out a few of my favorite sentiment stamps from Paper Wings Productions and stamped them onto some vellum cardstock with VersaMark ink.  Next I  heat embossed them in white embossing powder and adhered them to my background panels.  The stamp sets I used were Thankful, Celebrate, and Happy and I just love the beautiful font of these stamp sets.  Here is a look at my completed cards using this alcohol ink technique.

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial today and I would love for you to give it a try and share with us on Facebook, Instagram or in our Flickr Gallery!  We love to see what our fans our creating so make sure to tag Paper Wings Productions!  The September mixed media kit was released yesterday and you are going to love this months kit!  I am extremly excited about this months kit and I can not wait to start creating with it!  To purchase a kit or to see the kit contents click here!  We also released two new stamp sets that you are going to love!

Themed Thursday-Tags

Happy Thursday everyone!  Erica with you today to bring you 3 very sweet tags using the fabulous products from the Paper Wings Productions Shop.
They were all very easy to make and I am going to take you through the process of creating one of them today.  I started with medium sized manila tags and sprayed them all with Lindys Stamp Gang Nantucket Sidekick that you will find in our January Nesting Components Kit.

After I dried the tag with my heat gun I used the stamp set Art Textures to stamp out a few different textures all over my tag to create a nice background.
I hit the tag with my heat gun once again to make sure all the ink was completely dry.  Next I picked one of the great stamps from the Valentine Wishes stamp set and stamped it out in VersaMark ink and heat embossed it in gold embossing powder.
I love the way the gold looks on this tag!  I wanted to add some more gold embossing so I took the small heart stamp that comes in the Snowman Love stamp set and stamped it out so it looked as if the little hearts are floating up to the top of the tag and then I heat embossed them in the same gold embossing powder.
To finish off my tag I added a flower from my stash, some bling and some beautiful hand dyed vintage rayon ribbon from the January Nesting Components Kit.
I hope you enjoyed my tags today and that you were inspired to get out some of your sprays, stamps and ink and get a little creative!  The January Nesting Components Kit is available for purchase in the Paper Wings Productions Shop and do not forget we now have a Stamp of The Month that you can purchase for 40% off and includes a full color print out of sample ideas!  It is a fabulous stamp set that you will definitely want to pick up!  To stay up to date on sales, stamp releases and much more make sure to like us on Facebook and follow our blog!  Thanks so much for stopping today and remember to Let Your Creativity Take Flight!
